At iCreate, we work with property developers who want to create inspirational projects that will resonate with their audience and sell (hopefully off the plan before construction starts).
In order to do that, you need stunning artist impressions (also called 3D renders). The problem is these don’t come cheap, so you’ll want to make sure you really think them through strategically. But there is one key often overlooked component of a good render being used in the best way possible, and that’s the image size/quality.
If you’re getting renders created, these usually come at 5000px (pixels) wide. Someone along the way decided this was a good industry standard, so most render companies will output the file at this size. In our experience designing stunning branding, brochure and signage collateral for off-the-plan development projects, this simply isn’t enough.
5000 px wide is only large enough for an A4 brochure double page spread. Where often we are designing larger brochures, sales displays and billboards which means we need a larger image size from the get-go.
Image quality for Renders (artist impressions)
A good default size would be 6500px – 7000px wide.
You can request they are supplied at any file size you choose. Your render company might charge a small fee to make a larger file size because it takes longer to output the file. But the setup for this size is much easier for them to do at the beginning of the job. So to avoid extra fees make sure you request this upfront.

Here’s an email template you can swap to tell your render company what you are trying to achieve.
Subject: Renders for [YOUR PROJECT] – 7000px output image size
Dear [Name],
Thank you for working with us on our project.
Whilst we are at the beginning of setting up the renders, I’d like to request early on that we setup the files to be output at 7000px wide.
That way when we are creating our marketing material and signage we have the flexibility to use these on large image spreads, sales displays and billboards.
Thanks in advance,
[Your Name]
We hope this saves you the trouble of having to request this later on, plus save you any additional fees. We often find this is overlooked, and as it’s one of the last things that is placed into marketing material and the deadlines are tight, this can really add a lot of stress that could have easily been avoided if discussed up front. So send that email, and here’s to stress free property marketing. If you have any questions or a new project you’d like to discuss schedule a call with us today.
